Forest City, NC, December 7, 2016 – Moe’s Original Bar B Que will open in early 2017 at 164 E Main Street. This fast casual restaurant will provide economical Southern BBQ with all of the fixins’ with a quaint neighborhood setting that’s kid-friendly. The 2500 square foot interior will accommodate around 90 guests and with 800 square feet outside, 35-40 people can enjoy the patio space. There will also be a full premium bar complete with TVs showing concerts or sports. Additionally, Moe’s Original Bar B Que is always ready to accommodate any size catering order, large or small.
“Forest City is an hour east and west of Moe’s rib joints in Asheville and Charlotte,” said owner Dave Rice. “After owning several other locations in North Carolina and seeing resurgence in Forest City, I decided it was the perfect spot to open my next Moe’s Original Bar B Que.”
Constructed in 1935, the building was a bomb shelter in the 1960s. The exterior has been restored to the original brick and several new added windows provide an inviting glass storefront. Inside is very old with plaster and exposed brick walls, beautiful green and white terrazzo tile, refurbished old doors, vintage industrial lighting, knotted and stained wood booths, and bars/tables that were constructed on site.
Recognized with many awards, Moe’s Original Bar B Que has been named one of the Top 10 Rib Joints in the U.S. by Relish and Top 10 BBQ Chains in America by USA Today and The Daily Meal. Open daily for lunch and dinner, Moe’s Original Bar B Que features award-winning pulled pork, ribs, wings, turkey and chicken smoked over hardwood served along with Catfish and a Shrimp sandwich. Additionally, a daily rotation of traditional Southern sides and tasty desserts are prepared fresh from recipes passed down for generations. In over a decade Moe’s Original Bar B Que has grown from a junkyard pit to 50 successful restaurants in 15 states.

Moe’s Original Bar B Que was pleased to be recognized at Bele Chere as Best Overall Restaurant by taking home Taste of Asheville’s Taste Award. For the event, Moe’s Original Bar B Que served up a sampling of its “Southern Soul Food Revival” with sandwiches and platters of Pulled Pork, Ribs, Turkey and BBQ Tempeh as well as Southern sides that included Baked Beans, Marinated Slaw, Watermelon Salad, Chips, Cornbread and Banana Puddin’. At Bele Chere, Foodtopia at the Taste of Asheville in Pack Square featured local restaurants, showcasing a sampling of some of the best cuisine in Asheville.
Located in the Biltmore Village area, Moe’s Original Bar B Que serves up an award-winning, all things Southern, Alabama BBQ experience. In addition to a beautiful outdoor patio, there is a varied beer selection as well as four large flat-screen HDTVs for sports viewing and live entertainment on Sundays. Open for lunch and dinner on Monday – Saturday from 11am – 9pm and Sundays from 12pm – 4pm, the restaurant also offers large party takeout orders and full service catering.
