New Reviews and Awards for Home Team BBQ in Charleston, SC

Owner and founder of Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ, Aaron Siegel, did not intend on becoming a barbeque restaurant owner. In fact, the well trained chef studied at the University of Georgia and then went on to train at the Culinary Institute of America where he specialized in high end cuisine. He then became a chef at Pinions in Aspen, Colorado and later a French bistro called Cache Cache, all the while Aaron would dabble in barbequing at home and with friends. During his time at Pinions, Aaron also worked at a burrito joint and the idea of quick service embedded itself in his mind. Missing home yet not wanting to join the rat race that is the Atlanta scene, Aaron opted to come to familiar Charleston and settled in as the executive chef for the restaurant Blossom.

Early supper in the House that Ron built

By Patrick Graham

“Redemption” may be too strong of a word when you’re talking about a return visit to a barbecue joint, but if readers will concede that barbecue occupies a sacred spot in the soul of South Carolina and its natives, maybe we’ve not quite overstepped our bounds.  Six or seven years ago I happened upon Home Team’s West Ashley location and left not having been amazed.  Over the years, having been asked about Home Team by various visitors to the city, my response was an unequivocal “meh”.  Whether it was me, this location, what day it was, where the moon was in the zodiac, whatever, it’s clear that something has changed, and here’s how the day started.

When 10Best was naming the BBQ Capitals, Charleston was named and claimed Home Team BBQ to be the best!

Down South, we love our ‘que. And in Charleston, South Carolina, we love our Home Team. Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ is the brainchild of executive chef and owner Aaron Siegel, an experienced chef with dreams of comfort food and BBQ prepared in the traditional way, with a jukebox dining atmosphere. The original Fiery Ron’s is located in West Ashley and is known for its regular live music and events, while the Sullivan’s Island location, opened in 2009, offers near-beachfront outdoor seating and an extended menu. Stop by Fiery Ron’s after a long day at the beach, and refuel with a Brisket and Smoked Sausage Sandwich or a BBQ Pulled Pork Wrap. Add sides of creamy grits, collard greens, or Gouda mac ‘n cheese and wash it all down with local beers on tap.  What could be better than BBQ by the beach?
