5th Annual Firkin Fest in Mobile, AL

Presented by Moe’s Original Bar B Que and Budweiser Busch Distributing, the 5th Annual Firkin Festival will be held on Saturday, April 7th at 701 Spring Hill Avenue. Benefiting the American Cancer Society, the festival indulges craft beer lovers that include novices and aficionados alike. Participating breweries will showcase distinctive cask ale in a firkin, a barrel made of stainless steel that holds 10.8 gallons of beer. Firkins are unique in the sense that the beer goes through a secondary fermentation in the vessel. This year’s participating breweries include Fairhope Brewing Company, Avondale Brewery, Back Forty Brewery, Black Warrior Brewery, Grayton Beer Company, Mill Creek Brewery, Props Brewery, Rocket Republic Brewery, Straight to Ale Brewery, Garr’s Brewery, Tin Roof Brewery, Yellowhammer Brewery and Druid City Brewery.

Doors open at 2pm with a tapping ceremony at 2:30pm. Sampling ends at 5:30pm followed by an awards ceremony. There will be live music featuring Winston Ramble. The all-inclusive Firkin Fest tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at door and includes entrance to the festival, samples of each firkin, crawfish, sample glass, koozie, literature and live music.

Moe’s Original Bar B Que Coming Soon to Destin

Opening in mid-February, Moe’s Original Bar B Que will be located in the former Buck’s Smokehouse at 303 Harbor Blvd. in the heart of Destin. While the decor and beachy atmosphere will remain mostly the same as Buck’s, the menu will feature all of Moe’s Original award-winning classics including daily smoked meats, seafood fresh off the boat and made from scratch, down home sides and desserts. Opening daily for lunch and dinner at 11am, the fast casual restaurant also will offer large party takeout orders as well as full service catering for parties, fundraisers and events. Locals and vacationers will dine indoors in the 50 seat eatery or on the patio while enjoying beer, wine and occasional entertainment. 

“As I grew up spending time in Destin, I knew the Emerald Coast would be the ideal community to run my own restaurant and make our new home,” said Moe’s Original Bar B Que Founding Partner and local Owner/Operator Mike Fernandez. “For this location, I am partnering with Brett Mancuso, who already has a successful Moe’s in Atlanta, and Mike Buckingham, who is allowing us to transform his popular Buck’s Smokehouse. In the future, we plan to open more of our restaurants in the surrounding areas including 30A.”

Moe’s Original Bar B Que Set to Bring Southern Soul Food Revival to Montgomery

Moe’s Original Bar B Que is coming to Montgomery in the early summer to 1051 East Fairview Avenue in the former Sinclair’s location in the Old Cloverdale neighborhood. A perfect spot for families, professionals and college students in the area, this fast casual restaurant will provide award-winning Southern BBQ, down home sides and fresh desserts daily for lunch and dinner. Offering premium catering services and large takeout orders, the service-oriented staff will also be ready to accommodate any size group or party. Complete with distressed wood paneling, sports and music memorabilia on the walls, the 2500 square foot interior will seat around 120 patrons total with 65 guests in the dining room, 30 at the bar and 25 on the patio. There will also be occasional acoustic music plus other entertainment as well as a full premium bar complete with multiple TVs featuring concerts or sports. 
 
“After working for Moe’s Original Bar B Que at the headquarters in Colorado in the summer of 2010, I later went back to Tuscaloosa to finish college, only to move back to Vail to train for four more years ,” said co-owner Hill Lubin. “At this point I loved the company’s history and knew I wanted to be a part of the future by bringing the successful concept back to my hometown. It took my partner, Richard Boyles, and I three years to find the perfect spot as we knew that this neighborhood with a really relaxed and artsy feel would be a phenomenal location for the brand.”

Sampling ends with an awards ceremony at 5:30pm. meat-on-pitForest City, NC, December 7, 2016 – Moe’s Original Bar B Que will open in early 2017 at 164 E Main Street. This fast casual restaurant will provide economical Southern BBQ with all of the fixins’ with a quaint neighborhood setting that’s kid-friendly. The 2500 square foot interior will accommodate around 90 guests and with 800 square feet outside, 35-40 people can enjoy the patio space. There will also be a full premium bar complete with TVs showing concerts or sports. Additionally, Moe’s Original Bar B Que is always ready to accommodate any size catering order, large or small.

“Forest City is an hour east and west of Moe’s rib joints in Asheville and Charlotte,” said owner Dave Rice. “After owning several other locations in North Carolina and seeing resurgence in Forest City, I decided it was the perfect spot to open my next Moe’s Original Bar B Que.”

Constructed in 1935, the building was a bomb shelter in the 1960s. The exterior has been restored to the original brick and several new added windows provide an inviting glass storefront. Inside is very old with plaster and exposed brick walls, beautiful green and white terrazzo tile, refurbished old doors, vintage industrial lighting, knotted and stained wood booths, and bars/tables that were constructed on site.

Seating around 100 people, the 3700 square foot restaurant will serve the same award-winning menu and daily specials as the other five South Alabama locations. Guests will order at the counter and a runner will bring the food to their table. Complete with adult beverages and a stage for entertainment, patrons can expect family friendly fun including live music, trivia and bingo. The look of this new space will also be similar featuring reclaimed wood, rusted tin and a concrete bar top.

“As the city of Semmes is growing and coming into its own, we were approached to bring our restaurant to the area,” said co-owner Ashleigh Valluzzo. “We visited the location a few times and knew our concept would flourish there. Additionally, it was an added bonus that the locals and town were super excited to welcome us to the neighborhood.”

Local Food Truck Provides Support for Police Officer

Purchase Southern BBQ and down home fixins and 50% of all proceeds will benefit Lt. Denise King. The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office partnered with Moe’s to express support of its sister in blue who has been fighting lung cancer.

Moe’s Original Bar B Que to Open Soon in Jackson Hole

Cache Street in the former Ripley’s location. With a kitchen that will stay open late, the award-winning restaurant will feature a Southern soul food revival that will fit any budget. While the setting will be family-friendly, there will be a full premium bar offering a lively bar scene complete with HDTVs for sports fans, music, shuffle board and other games upstairs. Large party takeout orders and full service catering with delivery for any size group for parties, business lunches, reunions, weddings and other special events will also be available.

Upon entering the 4000 square foot restaurant, guests will walk past chairlifts hanging from the ceiling, ski posters and local JHMR signs in a small dining room filled with dark wooden tables and cafeteria swinging chairs. Menu boards, posters, TVs, concert memorabilia and local art will also fill the walls leading up to an order counter in the main dining room that is directly across from a designed wooden pallet wall. Envisioned by Trauner Fay Designs, this space will have an industrial feel with a 30 foot tall open ceiling, exposed mechanical system and wood/steel beams. Capacity is 125 inside with bar, banquet and community table seating. There is a beautiful outdoor dining space on the balcony that seats another 16 with views of Snow King and the shops along town square. Additionally, a private event space upstairs is available for smaller gatherings from viewing football games to birthday parties.

“After being a fan of Moe’s Original Bar B Que in college and having a love of the mountains and skiing, I moved out west to work at the corporate headquarters in Vail, CO. I knew it was time to open a location of my own after learning all aspects of the company for five years,” said co-owner David Fogg. “When the founding partners told me that Tom Fay was interested in opening a Moe’s in another world class ski town, I was very interested. After meeting Tom and seeing his success in owning Pinky G’s, I was easily sold and knew it was a perfect fit to partner with him on this venture.”

In mid-August Moe’s Original Bar B Que will open a new location outside of the perimeter at 12020 Etris Rd Suite B-140 in the Sweet Apple Village shopping center in the heart of Roswell. Like the Midtown restaurant, Moe’s Original Bar B Que features award-winning pulled pork, ribs, wings, turkey and chicken smoked over hardwood served with two unique sauces in addition to Catfish and a Shrimp Moe-Boy sandwich. Meat on PitWith square footage of 2,800 and a seating capacity of approximately 100, the new spot utilizes rustic looking woodwork with antique metal trims to provide a classic down home southern feel. Like most Moe’s Original Bar B Ques across the country, the Roswell eatery has an open kitchen feel, giving customers a full view of the Ole Hickory smoker and the food being prepared. The interior walls are covered with a mixture of music and sports complete with a ski lodge feel and Southern flare. A full size garage door opens up to a large patio area furnished with large picnic tables that are perfect for a great family dining experience or private party.
