Moe’s Original Bar B Que Set to Open in Greenville, SC

Co-Owners Sam Ragland and John Wood

Moe’s Original Bar B Que, winners of the People’s Choice Award at the Taste of the Upstate, will open its southern soul food revival in Greenville in late June at 109 West Stone Avenue in the Westone Development. Serving lunch and dinner daily, the 2,500-square-foot, fast casual establishment will offer Alabama-style BBQ, traditional southern sides and desserts prepared fresh daily. With the ability to seat 94 total at booths, tables, and high tops including 36 on the patio, the BBQ joint will have flat screen televisions hanging on the walls, a full bar with rotating taps and frozen bushwackers, and garage doors open to a patio complete with outdoor fire pit. The neighborhood restaurant will also provide full service catering for celebrations and corporate events as well as large party takeout orders.

“Situated in the North Main community, the location was originally home to Star Cleaners in the 1920s,” said co-owner Sam Ragland. “Once we toured the spot and saw the character of the historic building, we knew this was a perfect place to re-purpose into a Moe’s Original Bar B Que.”

Recognized with many awards, Moe’s Original Bar B Que has been named one of the fastest growing, emerging restaurant chains by Restaurant Business Magazine, one of the Top 10 Rib Joints in the U.S. by Relish and Top 10 BBQ Chains in America by USA Today and The Daily Meal. Moe’s Original Bar B Que features pulled pork, ribs, wings, turkey and chicken smoked over hardwood served along with catfish and a shrimp sandwich. Additionally, a daily rotation of traditional sides and house-made desserts are prepared from recipes passed down for generations. Since 2001, Moe’s Original Bar B Que has grown from a junkyard pit to over 60 successful restaurants in 16 states and Mexico.

New Reviews and Awards for Home Team BBQ in Charleston, SC

Owner and founder of Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ, Aaron Siegel, did not intend on becoming a barbeque restaurant owner. In fact, the well trained chef studied at the University of Georgia and then went on to train at the Culinary Institute of America where he specialized in high end cuisine. He then became a chef at Pinions in Aspen, Colorado and later a French bistro called Cache Cache, all the while Aaron would dabble in barbequing at home and with friends. During his time at Pinions, Aaron also worked at a burrito joint and the idea of quick service embedded itself in his mind. Missing home yet not wanting to join the rat race that is the Atlanta scene, Aaron opted to come to familiar Charleston and settled in as the executive chef for the restaurant Blossom.

Early supper in the House that Ron built

By Patrick Graham

“Redemption” may be too strong of a word when you’re talking about a return visit to a barbecue joint, but if readers will concede that barbecue occupies a sacred spot in the soul of South Carolina and its natives, maybe we’ve not quite overstepped our bounds.  Six or seven years ago I happened upon Home Team’s West Ashley location and left not having been amazed.  Over the years, having been asked about Home Team by various visitors to the city, my response was an unequivocal “meh”.  Whether it was me, this location, what day it was, where the moon was in the zodiac, whatever, it’s clear that something has changed, and here’s how the day started.

When 10Best was naming the BBQ Capitals, Charleston was named and claimed Home Team BBQ to be the best!

Down South, we love our ‘que. And in Charleston, South Carolina, we love our Home Team. Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ is the brainchild of executive chef and owner Aaron Siegel, an experienced chef with dreams of comfort food and BBQ prepared in the traditional way, with a jukebox dining atmosphere. The original Fiery Ron’s is located in West Ashley and is known for its regular live music and events, while the Sullivan’s Island location, opened in 2009, offers near-beachfront outdoor seating and an extended menu. Stop by Fiery Ron’s after a long day at the beach, and refuel with a Brisket and Smoked Sausage Sandwich or a BBQ Pulled Pork Wrap. Add sides of creamy grits, collard greens, or Gouda mac ‘n cheese and wash it all down with local beers on tap.  What could be better than BBQ by the beach?

New Home Team BBQ Set to Open on Sullivan’s Island
Eskimo Advertising Announcement
Charleston, South Carolina March 11, 2009 – Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ is proud to announce the opening of its second location in early spring at 2209 Middle Street in the former Bert’s space on Sullivan’s Island. While Home Team BBQ’s menu accommodates every appetite with traditional authentic BBQ along with signature and versatile dishes, the new restaurant will feature a larger menu of tempting choices of appetizers, ribs, chicken, pulled pork, BBQ quesadillas and tacos as well as all of the regular fixins that Home Team patrons have come to know and love. Keeping with the rustic, Southern charm of the Home Team BBQ brand, the new location will have the same down home atmosphere as West Ashley, yet offer table service inside and on the patio instead of walk up service.

“When the Bert’s space became available, we knew it was a perfect place to expand our concept,” said Home Team executive chef and owner Aaron Siegel. “We’re renovating a building with great history and our goal is to carry on the spirit of Bert’s with emphasis on the community while providing a fun and lively place in which locals can call their own.”

Founded in 2006 by Siegel and co-owner, Randy Abraham, Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ has won many awards including the Best BBQ, Best Ribs, Best Jazz and Blues Club, Coldest Beer and Best Bar Staff in Charleston. In addition to award-winning menu selections, Home Team offers large party takeout orders, full service catering and delivery. With nightly entertainment including live music and plenty of TVs for sports viewing, the bar also provides a fun nightlife scene. Home Team is the spot for a work lunch, casual family dinner or a great night out on the town with friends.

Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ is open daily from 11am-2am and Sundays from 11:30am-2am with full menu served until 9pm.
