Moe’s Original Bar B Que Plans to Expand in South Portland, Maine

4 wayMoe’s Original Bar B Que will start smokin’ its award-winning Alabama-style BBQ in South Portland at 209 Western Ave in early October. Conveniently located between I-95 and I-295 on Western Avenue near a large number of businesses, the new fast-casual dining option will be open daily with distinctive menu selections and home-style sides without breaking the budget. The family friendly restaurant will also feature signature Haul-It-Home packs for families to enjoy as well as full service catering for the greater Portland area.

Set up for counter service, Moe’s Original Bar B Que will also have a 12 seat, full premium bar which will be perfect for folks wanting to unwind after the workday. In addition to the bar, seating for 60 will include two booths, several low-top tables and a couple of high-top bar tables.  There will also be a patio for outdoor dining.

“I am really excited to bring Moe’s Original style of BBQ to South Portland where we realize the bar is set high,” said owner Dewey Hasbrouck. “Our consistent great food, Southern hospitality, speed of service, and lower price point will add a slightly different dining out experience to the existing food market.”

Ryan Helsley, Will Casanova and Trace Armstrong plan to open a Moe’s Original Bar B Que in early March at 14896 Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach. Serving Alabama-style BBQ and made from scratch Southern sides prepared fresh daily, the BBQ joint also features to go packs and full service catering. Beer and wine will be served as well as a wine-based liquor alternative used in specialty cocktails like the Bushwacker and Bloody Moe.

Located about a half of a mile East of Pier Park in the middle of the strip right across from the Gulf of Mexico, the 2000 square foot fast casual restaurant seats about 50 people inside. Throughout the heavily wooded interior, there is lots of personality with a beachy/ BBQ feel to it as surf boards, fishing gear, old driftwood and carved fish fill the walls. With a tiki hut bar out front, the expansive patio wraps around the side of the building and is a place for guests to people watch, socialize, eat, drink, and enjoy HDTVs, outdoor games, and live music. Additionally, there is a large gravel parking lot out back.

“While we know we’re in a key location for Spring Breakers, we want families and children to always feel welcome,” said co-owner Ryan Helsley. “We plan to be a year round business and want to be a favorite spot for the locals.”

Award-Winning Alabama-style BBQ Coming to Granville

Comin in hotRecently named one of the Top 10 BBQ Joints in America by Relish, Moe’s Original Bar B Que will open in early March at 128 Broadway  E. Owners Kara Gallagher and Greg Tracey discovered Moe’s original flavor after living in Asheville, NC for 10 years. They partnered with Kara’s mom Nasie to bring the Southern Soul Food Revival back to their hometown community. Moe’s Original Bar B Que features smoked meats and down home sides and flavorful desserts prepared fresh daily from recipes passed down for generations. “Located in a historical building with beautiful brick walls, we knew this gorgeous spot was a perfect fit for our Southern-style eatery,” said co-owner Kara Gallagher. “With walls filled with artwork of famous musicians by local artist Samantha Bennett, the restaurant also has three TVs downstairs as well as two TVs and a projector screen upstairs to catch all of the Ohio State games!”

Moe’s Original Bar B Que Scheduled to Open in Cullman, AL

May 17, 2013 – Joseph Fralic along with Cullman natives Justin Gilley and Tyler Schuman plan to introduce Moe’s Original Bar B Que to their hometown of Cullman at 318 1st Ave SE in late May. Moe’s Original Bar B Que serves up an award-winning, all things Southern, Alabama-style BBQ experience, complete with take out and catering. The restaurant has 20 foot ceilings and spans 4300 square feet with booths, tables and bar seating for 90 while the 800 square foot patio seats 50 out front under the breeze of a huge fan. With a full premium bar, bushwackers and 12 beers on tap, the hickory wood bar extends 40 feet and is surrounded by huge HDTVs and a view of the stage for live music. In in effort to help revitalize the heart of downtown, the restaurant was a complete build out that kept with the character of the old building while allowing the owners to create the ultimate Moe’s Original Bar B Que experience from scratch.

“Justin, Joseph and I all enjoy being a part of the culture that surrounds Moe’s Original Bar B Que,” said co-owner Tyler Schuman.  “We wanted to bring that vibe and atmosphere to Cullman as this is where Justin and I grew up.”

Headquarted in Vail, Moe’s Original Bar B Que was founded by Alabama three boys; Mike Fernandez from Tuscaloosa, Ben Gilbert from Athens, and Jeff Kennedy from Huntsville. These partners learned how to fire roast meats from Tuscalooa legend Moses Day and it is his distinct style makes up Moe’s original flavor of BBQ. Local owners Justin and Tyler moved from Cullman to Vail when given the opportunity by the founding partners to join the team. After spending a year with the founders learning the ins and outs of running the restaurant and bar, they moved back South, added partner Joseph and honed their skills at several of the other Moe’s Original locations. May 13, 2013 – After helping run the Moe’s Original Bar B Que in Asheville, Brian and Janeen Fairhurst teamed up with Brian’s brother Craig to bring the Southern Soul Food Revival in early June to 111 Matthews Station St in Matthews.  The Moe’s Original Bar B Que concept smokes meats fresh daily complemented by traditional Southern sides and desserts from recipes passed down for generations. It will also feature a kids menu, take out and full service catering for special events, parties, business events and luncheons as well as weddings of all sizes. The bar will offer 12 local and regional craft beers on tap, bottled domestics and a full premium bar. Moe’s Original Bar B Que will be the perfect local spot for families and friends getting together to enjoy some good ‘Que and  Southern hospitality.

“After deciding to look in the Charlotte area for restaurant locations, we fell in love with the quaint town of Matthews,” said co-owner Janeen Fairhurst. “We knew Moe’s Original Bar B Que would be a perfect fit in this great community.”

Modeled after a historic Matthews gas station, the look is very industrial with a beamed ceiling, exposed duct work, and concrete floors. The atmosphere is welcoming with an open kitchen and comfortable dining room that seats 90. With seven large bay doors with drop down screens, guests can enjoy dining overlooking the beautifully landscaped grounds. Front and side patios can seat 25 customers al fresco.

March 25, 2013 – Moe’s Original Bar B Que is pleased to announce its first Tennessee restaurant opening in mid-April at 9050 Carothers Parkway in the Cool Springs community of Franklin. The fast casual establishment will offer smoked meats and down home fixins to create its signature Southern soul food revival. With exposed twenty foot ceilings and memorabilia lining the walls, the renovated interior will offer a mixture of bar, booth, and table top seating for 75 inside while the outside will fit up to 15 in the shade under the building awning. Set in a quaint neighborhood setting, Moe’s Original provides a laid back atmosphere for a quick lunch, dinner with the entire family or a night out with friends.  Adding to three Birmingham locations, Moe’s Original Bar B Que will bring it’s Alabama-style BBQ experience to 163 Main Street in downtown Trussville in early March. “We’re excited to open a location in Trussville as it is such a huge community that continues to grow,” said Moe’s Original Bar B Que co-owner Eric Witherington. “We have been trying to get there for years to open our BBQ concept, but just couldn’t find right spot until now.”

While brothers Kevin and Eric Witherington were partners at the Lakeview Oyster House, they were ready for a new challenge. When Kevin was on vacation in Vail, he spent some time with Alabama natives and founding partners of Moe’s Original Bar B Que, Mike Fernandez, Jeff Kennedy and Ben Gilbert while his brother Eric vacationed in Orange Beach where he also discovered the Southern soul food revival. After experiencing the thriving Alabama-style BBQ business, both saw an opportunity. Moe’s Original Bar B Que Expands Southern Soul Food Revival to Hendersonville, NC

After a warm welcome in Asheville, NC, Moe’s Original Bar B Que is set to bring the all things Southern BBQ experience to 114 N Main Street in downtown Hendersonville, NC in mid-March. Housed in a historic brownstone built in 1900 across from the former court house, the 4000 square foot two story eatery features a main level dining room complete with traditional interior brick walls, booths, tables, and family-style dining plus high tops in the front window and sidewalk seating.
