Moe’s Original Bar B Que Marks 15 Successful Years in Business

Vail, Colorado, January, 19, 2017 – Moe’s Original Bar B Que’s prosperous model has proven itself over and over as it rolls into its 16th year in business after recently opening its 50th location in Jackson Hole. In the last few years in 15 states, the fast casual brand has consistently opened seven to nine restaurants annually. From a BBQ concession trailer on the side of the road to $50 million dollar enterprise, Moe’s Original Bar B Que has proven that mentoring and growing from inside of the company works well.

“Growing at an aggressive, yet manageable pace and offering a system that is easy to operate has been important to our ongoing development,” said founding partner Jeff Kennedy. “We are located in a world class ski town that attracts enthusiastic workers who fit with our laid back culture. We take pride in providing opportunities and training for our most hardworking employees to lead them to entrepreneurial success while expanding our family of restaurants.”

While all of Moe’s Original Bar B Que’s non-cookie cutter locations tie into the atmosphere of its surrounding communities, utilizing quality recipes and preparing consistent food at a reasonable price is its greatest attribute. Moe’s award-winning menu features pulled pork, ribs, wings, turkey and chicken smoked over hardwood served with two unique sauces as well as catfish, mahi mahi and a shrimp sandwich. Prepared fresh daily, a rotation of 60 traditional Southern sides and house made desserts have become just as popular as the smoked meats.

Moe’s Original Bar B Que was founded in 2001 by Ben Gilbert, Mike Fernandez and Jeff Kennedy. After meeting at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, they were lucky to learn how to fire roast meats from Tuscaloosa BBQ legend Moses Day. It is his distinct style that makes up Moe’s original flavor of BBQ. Recognized with many awards, Moe’s Original Bar B Que has been named one of the Top 10 Rib Joints in the U.S. by Relish and Top 10 BBQ Chains in America by USA Today and The Daily Meal.

Stay tuned as Moe’s Original Bar B Que has plans soon to commemorate its 15th anniversary milestone across the country with celebrations and giveaways. My First Time: Moe’s Original Bar B Que  by Grown People Talking, Matthews, North Carolina

The Charlotte area’s offerings of barbecue continue to grow. I was invited last week to visit Moe’s Original Bar B Que, which opened in June in Matthews. The barbecue franchise started as a single restaurant in Colorado by three friends who met at the University of Alabama. That pretty much explains why today nearly all of the 26 locations are either located in Colorado or the South–Alabama, Georgia, Maine, North Carolina, and Tennessee (relatively speaking, the franchise has expanded rapidly over the last three years). Rance checked out Moe’s Original BBQ.  It’s the newest barbecue restaurant to open in the area and touts a different style.  It’s called Alabama style, but their owners say it’s a mix of cultures that make it more of a “Dixie” style.  Either way, Rance was determined to sink his teeth into the story.
