Vintage Hospitality Group Expands its State of the Art Hydroponic Farm in Montgomery, Alabama

In partnership with Alabama Power, Vintage Hospitality Group recently expanded MGM Greens by adding Freight Farm’s Greenery, a fully climate-controlled hydroponic farm built inside of a compact 320 sq. ft. container. This smart farm is self contained, growing vertically and hydroponically without soil, getting its nutrition from water and light energy from powerful LEDs. Through these climate controlled components, plants can thrive inside the containers offering the capability to harvest fresh produce multiple times a week and grow 365 days a year. This addition lets MGM Greens work within multiple environments to grow additional produce allowing a diverse crop yield for its restaurants, Vintage Cafe and Vintage Year, both 50 feet away. With the Greenery expansion, the group is selling retail and also plans to host its own local neighborhood farmers market on a monthly basis.

“Purchasing the second Greenery has allowed us to now be able to curate our menu based on new successful crops,” said Vintage Hospitality Group’s Executive Chef Eric Rivera. “It will further maximizing growing potential as it also offers the capability for multiple test crops for upcoming menus at our new restaurant, Ravello.”

While Vintage Hospitality Group’s flagship restaurant Vintage Year is a fine dining establishment, Vintage Café is a coffee shop, daytime eatery and retail store. As the group also owns MGM Greens, it will be opening City Fed and Ravello restaurant in 2021. Vintage Hospitality Group’s national press accolades include receiving mentions in the New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, Forbes and Newsweek Magazines. In addition to being named a Smart Catch Leader, Executive Chef Eric Rivera has been recognized by the James Beard Foundation as a winner of its Blended Burger competition. Chef Eric has also led Vintage Year to be named one of OpenTable’s 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America and a Traveler’s Choice winner by Trip Advisor. Red Phone Booth and Amalfi Pizza in Atlanta Install State-of-the-Art Air Purification & Latest Disinfection Technology Prior to Reopening June 1st

Red-Phone-Booth-Speakeasy-Lounge-Atlanta-14.jpgAtlanta, Georgia, May 12, 2020 – Downtown speakeasy Red Phone Booth and Neapolitan pizzeria Amalfi Pizza will reopen for in house dining and cocktails on Monday, June 1st after acquiring the latest in air purification technology and sanitizing solutions. Global Plasma Solutions installed Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization (NBPI) technology that purifies air by eliminating airborne particulates, odors and pathogens by attacking and killing viruses, mold spores and bacteria. This revolutionary air filtration technology is currently used in many hospitals like Boston Children’s Hospital, the Mayo Clinic and Houston Memorial Hospital Baylor UMC as well as The White House and major universities such as Clemson and Harvard. Red Phone Booth and Amalfi Pizza’s new cleaning protocols also include frequent disinfecting measures applied throughout the facility from floor to ceiling using Clean Well’s healthcare grade disinfectant MonoFoil D that kills 99.9% of bacteria on surfaces. This EPA approved solution bonds to most surfaces providing an active germ barrier for 30-60 days. Other safety measures will include staff uniformed with masks and gloves, reservations, staggered arrival times, half capacity, and social distancing seating as well as frequent sanitization procedures.

“Safety for our guests is of the utmost importance at Red Phone Booth and Amalfi Pizza,” said co-founder Stephen de Haan. “We were already utilizing the latest technology in air purification at Red Phone Booth since we offer an extensive cigar program. With the installation of the Bipolar Ionization generators and MonoFoil D, both facilities will set the gold standard in guest safety and comfort.”

Global Plasma Solutions’ Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization uses advanced technology as the ions steal away hydrogen from the pathogens, leaving them to die, and providing clean and healthy indoor air. The technology also reduces airborne particles including dust and pollen through agglomeration. The ions attach to the airborne particles and are then subsequently attracted to one another, effectively increasing their mass and size. The air filtration technology easily captures the larger particles, increasing the capture efficiency of the Air Purifiers and HVAC system. CleanWell is the exclusive supplier in the Southeast of a nano-technology based cleaner called Monofoil D. The potent product cleans and disinfects surfaces with an antimicrobial shield leaving surfaces cleaner longer. CleanWell’s professional team is trained in the specific application needed to create the long lasting effects.

At the Red Phone Booth and Amalfi Pizza, it is part of the credo to exceed all guest expectations. Red Phone Booth is a prohibition experience featuring classic turn of the century craft cocktail selections and an extensive cigar program while Amalfi Pizza is an award winning restaurant featuring classic Neapolitan pizzas, fresh pasta, and an extensive Italian wine list.  From the comfort of the seating, training and knowledge of the staff to the quality of the air, it is all of these things and more that allow for Red Phone Booth and Amalfi Pizza to deliver an unparalleled experience for its guests.

7th Annual Firkin Fest Announced in Mobile, AL

Moe’s Original BBQ and Budweiser Busch Distributing will host the 7th Annual Firkin Festival on Saturday, April 4th at 701 Spring Hill Avenue. The craft beer festival, benefiting the American Cancer Society, features local and regional breweries showcasing distinctive cask ale in a firkin, a barrel made of stainless steel that holds 10.8 gallons of beer. Firkin’s hail from the tradition of cask brewing and use natural fermentation processes to carbonate the beer. The liquid is typically served slightly below room temperature and will have a smoother, lighter carbonated body due to the natural carbonation process. This year’s participating breweries include Black Warrior Brewing Company, Yellowhammer Brewing Company, Ghost Train Brewing Company, Back Forty Brewing Company, Braided River Brewing Company, Avondale Brewing Company, Fairhope Brewing Company, Interstellar Ginger Beer and Exploration Company, Grayton Beer Company, Second Line Brewing and Props Brewing Company.

“Firkin’s have become a cool way for craft brewers to show personality and creativity by adding unique flavors or spins on traditional flagship beers by creating something completely new and different that they traditionally would not release to the market,” said Ian Berg, Craft Representative for Budweiser-Busch Distributing. “It’s also a fun way to introduce the beer loving public to “one-time” only beers that will truly be exclusive to the experience and will never be recreated.”

Doors for the festival will open at 2pm with a tapping ceremony at 2:30pm. Sampling ends at 5:30pm followed by an awards ceremony. Additionally, there will be live music. The all-inclusive Firkin Fest tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at door and includes entrance to the festival, samples of each firkin, crawfish, sample glass, koozie, literature and live music.

Served with red BBQ and Alabama white sauces, Moe’s Original BBQ’s award-winning smoked menu features pulled pork, ribs, wings, turkey and chicken as well as mahi mahi, catfish and shrimp. Born and raised in Hartsville, Bert Griggs was surrounded by a huge family and lifelong friends as he grew up in the country riding tractors, four-wheelers and being mischievous. Bert later graduated from the College of Charleston with a B.S. in Business Administration. He remained in Charleston after college working in all aspects of the hospitality industry for Charlestowne Hotels. It wasn’t long before the mountains called his name and he headed to Jackson Hole to pursue his love of snowboarding. While there, Bert was the sales and marketing director of a hotel group that gave him the opportunity to travel to world-class ski resorts all over the country as an ambassador for Jackson Hole. He met his wife Lorrie while she was vacationing there from Charleston and discovered they both had a love of traveling to see live music and a plethora of mutual friends. Following a whirlwind romance, they married on April Fools’ Day atop the mountain at Jackson Hole Ski Resort. Together they created Drifter Merch, an apparel company dedicated to their love of music. Soon after, they returned to Charleston where Bert’s passion for graphic design grew as did their business. Their company vended at many local events and handled custom orders for numerous businesses, bands, schools and events. The light of their lives, Harper Grace, was born about a year later. Bert was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, and friend. Bert had an innate ability to make everyone he met feel like they were the most important person in the room. He never met a stranger. In fact, he was everyone’s best friend. He had the sweetest soul and a tender heart that loved hard and loved deeply. Bert had a unique sense of humor with an infectious laugh and smile that could light up the darkest room. He is deeply missed.
