After meeting at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, they instantly became friends and had a mutual interest in all things Southern: BBQ, blues, college football, and whisky. In 1988, Mike hooked up with Moses Day in Tuscaloosa and began learning to fire roast meats. The boys were lucky to learn from Moses and his distinct style makes up Moe’s original flavor of BBQ. Loving the mountains, these entrepreneurs eventually all landed in Vail and refined the cooking skills they had learned over the years. By using fruit wood to smoke the meats fresh daily and accompanying it with two sauces, they knew they had something special. Moe’s Original Bar B Que Set to Open Two More South Alabama Restaurants

Opening in early March with drive thru service, the West Mobile location at 4672 Airport Blvd will be close to the University of South Alabama and the airport. Located in the heart of Foley at 20733 Miflin Road, this new eatery will start to serve customers in April. At both locations, guests can expect the menus to be the same as the other locations with the famous Alabama-style hand pulled pork, smoked chicken wings, turkey, fried shrimp and catfish, Memphis-style dry rubbed ribs and more, not to mention the favorite southern sides made from scratch daily. The design of both locations will have repurposed materials including reclaimed barn wood and oxidized tin that will give a rustic look to make each spot feel like they’ve been there forever. While both BBQ joints are family friendly, there will also be full bars complete with bushwackers, Alabama beers and more for the adults!

Open daily from 11am-9pm, Moe’s Original Bar B Que will capture the commercial west side lunch crowds while afternoon and evening hours will accommodate after-work customers with a full service bar, cheap beers, Colorado craft brews, and happy hour from 2-6pm. Moe’s Original Bar B Que Expands into Florida

Ryan Helsley, Will Casanova and Trace Armstrong plan to open a Moe’s Original Bar B Que in early March at 14896 Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach. Serving Alabama-style BBQ and made from scratch Southern sides prepared fresh daily, the BBQ joint also features to go packs and full service catering. Beer and wine will be served as well as a wine-based liquor alternative used in specialty cocktails like the Bushwacker and Bloody Moe.

Located about a half of a mile East of Pier Park in the middle of the strip right across from the Gulf of Mexico, the 2000 square foot fast casual restaurant seats about 50 people inside. Throughout the heavily wooded interior, there is lots of personality with a beachy/ BBQ feel to it as surf boards, fishing gear, old driftwood and carved fish fill the walls. With a tiki hut bar out front, the expansive patio wraps around the side of the building and is a place for guests to people watch, socialize, eat, drink, and enjoy HDTVs, outdoor games, and live music. Additionally, there is a large gravel parking lot out back.

“While we know we’re in a key location for Spring Breakers, we want families and children to always feel welcome,” said co-owner Ryan Helsley. “We plan to be a year round business and want to be a favorite spot for the locals.”
