Charleston, SC, January 26, 2011 – Benefiting Operation Home, Home Team BBQ presents Gimme Shelter on Thursday, March 31st from 7-11pm at Eye Level Art located downtown at 103 Spring Street. The festive evening’s theme celebrates a legendary Cuban night and will include beer, wine and specialty drinks including The Hemingway and famous Home Team Frozen Painkillers, on site hand-rolled cigars in a Havana lounge, a small silent auction, innovative multi-media entertainment and soulful folk and jazz rhythms from Garage Cuban Band. Additionally, pitmaster Aaron Siegel will be jerk-rubbing pork and chicken and then cooking them low and slow in Home Team’s wood fired smoker. Accented with a Cuban-inspired rum BBQ sauce and citrus juices, these items will be accompanied by grilled pineapple spicy rice and Home Team’s wild and crazy black beans.”Home Team’s support of this event is a huge testament to their commitment to the community and a great example of the power of a public-private partnership,” said Operation Home Executive Director Anna Hamilton. “Proceeds raised from this party will go towards helping four families who are currently on Operation Home’s waiting list for critical house repairs.”

Operation Home’s mission is to help low-income residents of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties remain in their homes by increasing safety and accessibility through the coordination of critical home repairs. Their work focuses on the people the most in need including households that contain children, people with disabilities or older adults. Since its inception, hundreds of homes have been repaired by Operation Home, totaling in excess of $1 million. Operation Home is committed to ensuring that no person has to live in a home that is inaccessible or dangerous.
