The Archetypes & Indecision Reunite for a Nostalgic Night of Music in Charleston

Get ready to relive the magic as two beloved bands, Indecision and The Archetypes, take the stage together for a special concert on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Charleston Music Hall. This unforgettable night of live music promises to bring back old favorites and music that shaped a generation! Doors will open at 7:00 PM, with the event starting at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $40 ADV, $45 DOS, and $55 for Balcony Front Row. Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday at 10:00 AM via Ticketmaster. This event is for all ages, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the nostalgic energy of these iconic bands.

Charleston’s own Archetypes formed in 1987 on the College of Charleston campus. With electrifying live performances marked by Tommy Dew’s magnetic stage presence and Kevin Wadley’s fierce guitar work, they have thrilled fans across the Southeast over the years. Their music explores themes of sex, drugs, and Southern life. Drawing from influences like R.E.M., Meat Puppets, The Feelies, Minutemen, and the Velvet Underground, the Archetypes blend rock, funk, and improvisational styles reminiscent of the Grateful Dead. Today, they continue to evolve their sound while staying true to their roots.

Indecision, formed in 1984 in Charlottesville, VA, is known for their innovative blend of rock, jazz, blues, and extended jams, complemented by rich and complex lyrics. With a storied history that includes performances at major festivals such as Bonnaroo and Lockn’ plus sharing stages with iconic artists like Phish, Widespread Panic, Blues Traveler, The Neville Brothers and the Dave Matthews Band, Indecision continues to captivate audiences with their dynamic sound.

Drifter Fest: The Inaugural Bert Griggs Memorial Jam Announced in Charleston

Drifter Fest: The Inaugural Bert Griggs Memorial Jam will be held on March 6th-8th in Charleston. The music-filled weekend will celebrate the life of Bert Griggs who died unexpectedly in December. Friday night’s festivities kick off with a pre-jam from 8-11pm at Home Team BBQ’s downtown location featuring several sets of funk favorites from Shonuff band. Doors for the Drifter Fest: The Inaugural Bert Griggs Memorial Jam open at 8pm on Saturday at the Charleston Pour House. Inside the venue from 8:30pm-1am, patrons will enjoy a collaboration of Bert’s favorite tunes from many of his friends including Reid Stone and bands Gaslight Street, The Travelin’ Kine, Shonuff, Solid Country Gold and more. The weekend concludes on Sunday at Reckoning in the Park featuring The Reckoning, an awesome Grateful Dead cover band, from 2pm-5pm in the meadow at James Island County Park. Guests will enjoy a weekend of fun events combined with great company, stories and live music.

Born and raised in Hartsville, Bert Griggs was surrounded by a huge family and lifelong friends as he grew up in the country riding tractors, four-wheelers and being mischievous. Bert later graduated from the College of Charleston with a B.S. in Business Administration. He remained in Charleston after college working in all aspects of the hospitality industry for Charlestowne Hotels. It wasn’t long before the mountains called his name and he headed to Jackson Hole to pursue his love of snowboarding. While there, Bert was the sales and marketing director of a hotel group that gave him the opportunity to travel to world-class ski resorts all over the country as an ambassador for Jackson Hole. He met his wife Lorrie while she was vacationing there from Charleston and discovered they both had a love of traveling to see live music and a plethora of mutual friends. Following a whirlwind romance, they married on April Fools’ Day atop the mountain at Jackson Hole Ski Resort. Together they created Drifter Merch, an apparel company dedicated to their love of music. Soon after, they returned to Charleston where Bert’s passion for graphic design grew as did their business. Their company vended at many local events and handled custom orders for numerous businesses, bands, schools and events. The light of their lives, Harper Grace, was born about a year later. Bert was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, and friend. Bert had an innate ability to make everyone he met feel like they were the most important person in the room. He never met a stranger. In fact, he was everyone’s best friend. He had the sweetest soul and a tender heart that loved hard and loved deeply. Bert had a unique sense of humor with an infectious laugh and smile that could light up the darkest room. He is deeply missed.
