Gene’s Haufbrau Announces Outdoor Beerfest

Gene’s Haufbrau will host Gene’s Outdoor Beerfest on Sunday, April 19th. Gates open at 12pm at 817 Savannah Highway in West Ashley. In addition to plenty of beers from sponsor SweetWater 420 and other $4 pints from around the world, the event features great food including a lowcountry boil and BBQ. There will be live musical performances by Lindsay Hollar from 12pm-2:30pm and Blue Plantation from 3-7pm.

Admission is $5 with a portion of proceeds benefiting Pet Helpers. This is a rain or shine event. Artists are subject to change without notice.

Gene’s Haufrau is Charleston’s oldest bar with the largest selection of over 200 beers. A winner of many awards, the bar most recently won for Best Draft Beer Selection, Best Bottled Beer Selection and Best West Ashley Bar by Charleston City Paper. Nightcap Food & Spirits owns Gene’s Haufbrau along with Vickery’s Bar & Grill Downtown and Shem Creek as well as Fontaine’s Oyster House, Highland Tap, Steamhouse Lounge and two Vickery’s Bar & Grill locations in Atlanta, Georgia.

Charleston, South Carolina March 11, 2009 – Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ is proud to announce the opening of its second location in early spring at 2209 Middle Street in the former Bert’s space on Sullivan’s Island. While Home Team BBQ’s menu accommodates every appetite with traditional authentic BBQ along with signature and versatile dishes, the new restaurant will feature a larger menu of tempting choices of appetizers, ribs, chicken, pulled pork, BBQ quesadillas and tacos as well as all of the regular fixins that Home Team patrons have come to know and love. Keeping with the rustic, Southern charm of the Home Team BBQ brand, the new location will have the same down home atmosphere as West Ashley, yet offer table service inside and on the patio instead of walk up service.

“When the Bert’s space became available, we knew it was a perfect place to expand our concept,” said Home Team executive chef and owner Aaron Siegel. “We’re renovating a building with great history and our goal is to carry on the spirit of Bert’s with emphasis on the community while providing a fun and lively place in which locals can call their own.”

Founded in 2006 by Siegel and co-owner, Randy Abraham, Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ has won many awards including the Best BBQ, Best Ribs, Best Jazz and Blues Club, Coldest Beer and Best Bar Staff in Charleston. In addition to award-winning menu selections, Home Team offers large party takeout orders, full service catering and delivery. With nightly entertainment including live music and plenty of TVs for sports viewing, the bar also provides a fun nightlife scene.
