Moe’s Original Bar B Que Plans to Expand in South Portland, Maine

Moe’s Original Bar B Que will start smokin’ its award-winning Alabama-style BBQ in South Portland at 209 Western Ave in early October. Conveniently located between I-95 and I-295 on Western Avenue near a large number of businesses, the new fast-casual dining option will be open daily with distinctive menu selections and home-style sides without breaking the budget. The family friendly restaurant will also feature signature Haul-It-Home packs for families to enjoy as well as full service catering for the greater Portland area.

Set up for counter service, Moe’s Original Bar B Que will also have a 12 seat, full premium bar which will be perfect for folks wanting to unwind after the workday. In addition to the bar, seating for 60 will include two booths, several low-top tables and a couple of high-top bar tables. There will also be a patio for outdoor dining.

“I am really excited to bring Moe’s Original style of BBQ to South Portland where we realize the bar is set high,” said owner Dewey Hasbrouck. “Our consistent great food, Southern hospitality, speed of service, and lower price point will add a slightly different dining out experience to the existing food market.”

Recognized with many awards, Moe’s Original Bar B Que has been named one of the Top 10 Rib Joints in the U.S. by Relish and Top 10 BBQ Chains in America by Daily Meal and USA Today. Years after learning to fire roast meats in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Mike Fernandez, Ben Gilbert and Jeff Kennedy discovered a shared passion for BBQ and founded Moe’s Original Bar B Que in Vail, Colorado in 2001. Moe’s Original Bar B Que Bringing a Southern Soul Food Revival to Bangor, Maine

March 13, 2012 – Located at 650 Broadway in Bangor in the former home of Jimmy V’s Sandwich Shop, Moe’s Original Bar B Que is set to open at the beginning of April. A Maine native who had been living in Nashville, TN, Dwight “Dewey” Hasbrouck jumped on the opportunity to get back to his roots and bring Moe’s original style of Alabama BBQ to central Maine.

“After spending the majority of my life after high school living in the Southeast, my wife, Emily, and I felt a strong desire to raise our family in Maine,” said owner Dewey Hasbrouck. “After becoming a huge fan of the Moe’s Original Bar B concept and developing close friendships with the founding partners, we started thinking that this concept would be a great fit for the Bangor area. So, after months of planning and a huge leap of faith, I’m proud to be bringing one of my favorite aspects of the south back to my home state.”

With a capacity of 55, the local restaurant’s front atrium will have family style seating in a very relaxed atmosphere while the main dining room has several high-top wooden tables. A small, yet full bar set up offers a place for folks who want to enjoy flavorful BBQ while watching their favorite New England sports teams on one of the large screen TVs. Guests can come anytime for a quick lunch, casual family dinner or a fun night out with friends.

Moe’s Original Bar B Que features award-winning Bama-style pulled pork, ribs, wings, turkey and chicken smoked over hardwood served with two unique sauces as well as catfish and a shrimp Moe-Boy sandwich. Additionally, six to eight traditional Southern sides and tasty desserts are served daily. Opening daily for lunch and dinner from 11am-9pm, the restaurant also will offer large party takeout orders and full service catering.
