Moe’s Original BBQ Expands to Spartanburg

By the end of the month, Moe’s Original BBQ will open its second upstate location in Spartanburg at 578 N Church Street Suite D in the mixed use Hub development. Open daily at 11am, a trip to Moe’s is a chance to slow down, make connections, and enjoy quality recipes passed down for many generations. Moe’s Original BBQ in Charlottesville, VA Changes Ownership and Hours

Moe’s Original BBQ has changed ownership after seven years. Mike and Ashleigh Abrams have sold the 2119 Ivy Road location to local restauranteur Derek Bond. Starting on Tuesday, Moe’s will continue operating as normal with manager Christina Blount still in charge along with the same great staff. Additionally, on Sunday, August 28th, the fast casual restaurant will be open seven days a week from 11am-8pm. 

“Derek’s a respected member of the Charlottesville community with years of experience in the culinary industry,” said Ashleigh Abrams. “We are so excited for the new ownership and leadership that will carry on the Moe’s experience on Ivy Road as well as continue rockin’ the food truck around town.”

Moe’s Original BBQ Nationwide To Donate A Percentage of One Day’s Sales to Hogs for the Cause

While Moe’s Original BBQ has been participating in Hogs for the Cause’s BBQ competition for 5 years, the company plans to further assist the families of children with pediatric cancer more this year. The award-winning BBQ corporation has committed to donating a percentage of its June 1st sales from all of its 52 locations across the country. In the past, the company had focused more on its Hogs for the Cause fundraising on a local level.

6th Annual Firkin Fest in Mobile, AL

The 6th Annual Firkin Festival, presented by Moe’s Original Bar B Que and Budweiser Busch Distributing, will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 701 Spring Hill Avenue. Benefiting the American Cancer Society, the festival features participating breweries showcasing distinctive cask ale in a firkin, a barrel made of stainless steel that holds 10.8 gallons of beer. Firkins are unique in the sense that the beer goes through a secondary fermentation in the vessel. This year’s participating breweries include Avondale Brewing Company, Back Forty Brewing Company, Fairhope Brewing Company, Black Warrior Brewing, Druid City Brewing Company, Ghost Train Brewing, Grayton Beach Brewing, Props Brewing Company, Straight to Ale Brewing Company, Yellowhammer Brewing Company and Interstellar Brewing Company.

Doors open at 2pm with a tapping ceremony at 2:30pm. Sampling ends at 5:30pm followed by an awards ceremony. The all-inclusive Firkin Fest tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at door and includes entrance to the festival, samples of each firkin, crawfish, sample glass, koozie, literature and live music.

Moe’s Original Bar B Que, winners of the People’s Choice Award at the Taste of the Upstate, will open its southern soul food revival in Greenville in late June at 109 West Stone Avenue in the Westone Development. Serving lunch and dinner daily, the 2,500-square-foot, fast casual establishment will offer Alabama-style BBQ, traditional southern sides and desserts prepared fresh daily. With the ability to seat 94 total at booths, tables, and high tops including 36 on the patio, the BBQ joint will have flat screen televisions hanging on the walls, a full bar with rotating taps and frozen bushwackers, and garage doors open to a patio complete with outdoor fire pit. The neighborhood restaurant will also provide full service catering for celebrations and corporate events as well as large party takeout orders.

“Situated in the North Main community, the location was originally home to Star Cleaners in the 1920s,” said co-owner Sam Ragland. “Once we toured the spot and saw the character of the historic building, we knew this was a perfect place to re-purpose into a Moe’s Original Bar B Que.”
