Moe’s Original Bar B Que Set to Open Two More South Alabama Restaurants

The highly popular Moe’s Original Bar B Que will be adding two additional ventures to its three other area restaurants in Mobile, Daphne and Orange Beach. Opening in early March with drive thru service, the West Mobile location at 4672 Airport Blvd will be close to the University of South Alabama and the airport. Located in the heart of Foley at 20733 Miflin Road, this new eatery will start to serve customers in April. At both locations, guests can expect the menus to be the same as the other locations with the famous Alabama-style hand pulled pork, smoked chicken wings, turkey, fried shrimp and catfish, Memphis-style dry rubbed ribs and more, not to mention the favorite southern sides made from scratch daily. The design of both locations will have repurposed materials including reclaimed barn wood and oxidized tin that will give a rustic look to make each spot feel like they’ve been there forever. While both BBQ joints are family friendly, there will also be full bars complete with bushwackers, Alabama beers and more for the adults!

“We are very excited about the opening of these new restaurants and expanding our company’s reach in Baldwin and Mobile counties,” said co-owner Mark White. “Additionally, we plan on using as much fresh local seafood and produce as possible in all of this area’s stores.”

Years after learning to fire roast meats in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Mike Fernandez, Ben Gilbert and Jeff Kennedy discovered a shared passion for BBQ and founded Moe’s Original Bar B Que in Vail, Colorado in 2001. Moe’s Original Bar B Que Scheduled to Open in Cullman, AL

May 17, 2013 – Joseph Fralic along with Cullman natives Justin Gilley and Tyler Schuman plan to introduce Moe’s Original Bar B Que to their hometown of Cullman at 318 1st Ave SE in late May. Moe’s Original Bar B Que serves up an award-winning, all things Southern, Alabama-style BBQ experience, complete with take out and catering. The restaurant has 20 foot ceilings and spans 4300 square feet with booths, tables and bar seating for 90 while the 800 square foot patio seats 50 out front under the breeze of a huge fan. With a full premium bar, bushwackers and 12 beers on tap, the hickory wood bar extends 40 feet and is surrounded by huge HDTVs and a view of the stage for live music. In in effort to help revitalize the heart of downtown, the restaurant was a complete build out that kept with the character of the old building while allowing the owners to create the ultimate Moe’s Original Bar B Que experience from scratch.

“Justin, Joseph and I all enjoy being a part of the culture that surrounds Moe’s Original Bar B Que,” said co-owner Tyler Schuman. “We wanted to bring that vibe and atmosphere to Cullman as this is where Justin and I grew up.”

Headquarted in Vail, Moe’s Original Bar B Que was founded by Alabama three boys; Mike Fernandez from Tuscaloosa, Ben Gilbert from Athens, and Jeff Kennedy from Huntsville. These partners learned how to fire roast meats from Tuscalooa legend Moses Day and it is his distinct style makes up Moe’s original flavor of BBQ. Local owners Justin and Tyler moved from Cullman to Vail when given the opportunity by the founding partners to join the team. After spending a year with the founders learning the ins and outs of running the restaurant and bar, they moved back South, added partner Joseph and honed their skills at several of the other Moe’s Original locations. Moe’s Original Bar B Que has quickly becoming a player in the fast casual marketplace with eleven additional Alabama locations as well as fourteen restaurants in Colorado, Georgia, Maine and North Carolina.
