6th Annual Firkin Fest in Mobile, AL

The 6th Annual Firkin Festival, presented by Moe’s Original Bar B Que and Budweiser Busch Distributing, will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 701 Spring Hill Avenue. Benefiting the American Cancer Society, the festival features participating breweries showcasing distinctive cask ale in a firkin, a barrel made of stainless steel that holds 10.8 gallons of beer. Firkins are unique in the sense that the beer goes through a secondary fermentation in the vessel. This year’s participating breweries include Avondale Brewing Company, Back Forty Brewing Company, Fairhope Brewing Company, Black Warrior Brewing, Druid City Brewing Company, Ghost Train Brewing, Grayton Beach Brewing, Props Brewing Company, Straight to Ale Brewing Company, Yellowhammer Brewing Company and Interstellar Brewing Company.

Doors open at 2pm with a tapping ceremony at 2:30pm. Sampling ends at 5:30pm followed by an awards ceremony. The all-inclusive Firkin Fest tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at door and includes entrance to the festival, samples of each firkin, crawfish, sample glass, koozie, literature and live music.

Opening in mid-February, Moe’s Original Bar B Que will be located in the former Buck’s Smokehouse at 303 Harbor Blvd. in the heart of Destin. While the decor and beachy atmosphere will remain mostly the same as Buck’s, the menu will feature all of Moe’s Original award-winning classics including daily smoked meats, seafood fresh off the boat and made from scratch, down home sides and desserts. Opening daily for lunch and dinner at 11am, the fast casual restaurant also will offer large party takeout orders as well as full service catering for parties, fundraisers and events. With a successful restaurant already in Granville, Moe’s Original Bar B Que is set to open a new location in late May in downtown Newark, just off the square at 21 W Church Street. Moe’s Original Bar B Que Set to Bring its Southern Soul Food Revival to Forest City, NC

meat-on-pitForest City, NC, December 7, 2016 – Moe’s Original Bar B Que will open in early 2017 at 164 E Main Street. This fast casual restaurant will provide economical Southern BBQ with all of the fixins’ with a quaint neighborhood setting that’s kid-friendly. The 2500 square foot interior will accommodate around 90 guests and with 800 square feet outside, 35-40 people can enjoy the patio space. There will also be a full premium bar complete with TVs showing concerts or sports. Additionally, Moe’s Original Bar B Que is always ready to accommodate any size catering order, large or small.

“Forest City is an hour east and west of Moe’s rib joints in Asheville and Charlotte,” said owner Dave Rice. “After owning several other locations in North Carolina and seeing resurgence in Forest City, I decided it was the perfect spot to open my next Moe’s Original Bar B Que.”

Constructed in 1935, the building was a bomb shelter in the 1960s. The exterior has been restored to the original brick and several new added windows provide an inviting glass storefront. Inside is very old with plaster and exposed brick walls, beautiful green and white terrazzo tile, refurbished old doors, vintage industrial lighting, knotted and stained wood booths, and bars/tables that were constructed on site.
